1. Purpose
The "Refrigerants" form helps you calculate the environmental impact associated with the refrigerants used in your company's cooling and refrigeration systems. Refrigerants are substances that absorb and release heat to enable cooling, but some can have a significant global warming potential if released into the atmosphere.
2. Entering Your Refrigerant Data
3. How the Calculation Works
The tool uses the entered data on refrigerant types and quantities, along with emission factors associated with each specific refrigerant, to calculate the total impact. This impact is calculated in kilograms of CO2 equivalent (kg CO2-eq), which standardizes the global warming potential of different refrigerants.
4. Understanding the Results
5. What Happens Next?
Once you've entered all the necessary data, click "Submit." The tool will automatically calculate the total impact of refrigerant consumption and display it on the right side of the form. This data will be incorporated into your overall environmental footprint report, accessible through the "Results Dashboard." You can then use this information to identify areas for improvement, such as transitioning to refrigerants with lower global warming potential, minimizing refrigerant leaks, and implementing proper refrigerant recovery and recycling practices.
