Waste Results Page

1. Purpose

The Waste Results page provides a detailed overview of the environmental impact associated with your company's waste production and management emissions. It presents a breakdown of the total emissions associated with waste, allows you to track how your environmental emissions over time, and allows for comparison of the performance against industry and association benchmarks.

2. Key Features

  • Share of waste in kg: The bar chart at the top of the page illustrates the total kilograms (kg) of each waste type produced (e.g., organic, paper, plastic, glass) for the selected year. This chart provides a visualization which outlines the proportion of different waste types generated in that selected time frame.
  • Carbon Footprint: The second chart illustrates the carbon footprint associated with each waste type, measured in kilograms of CO2 equivalent (kg CO2-eq). This helps identify the carbon impact corresponding to specific waste types, and how these contribute to your overall waste impact.
  • Impact per Month (if applicable): If you select a specific month in the options at the top of the page, this section displays a bar chart showing the waste impact for that month. This section will display a bar chart showing the waste impact for that month, broken down by different waste types.
  • Benchmark Comparisons: The page includes a comparison to industry benchmarks illustrating how your waste impact per square meter, and per euro sold, compares to industry averages and association averages (if applicable).
  • Variance: This section displays the percentage difference between your company's impact and the industry or association average. A red percentage indicates that your impact is higher than the average, suggesting room for improvement. A green percentage indicates that your impact is lower than the average, highlighting good performance compared to the industry benchmark.
  • Interactive Elements: An added functionality to derive further insights is the possibility to hover your mouse over the bars within the charts to view detailed information about specific waste types and their contribution to your impact in each graph.

3. Understanding the Charts

  • Share of waste in kg chart: Each bar in the chart represents a specific year, and the length of the bar indicates the total amount of waste produced from all types, each separate waste type is distinguished by a different color.
  • Carbon Footprint chart: Each bar in the chart represents a year, and the height of the bar indicates the associated carbon footprint in kg CO2-eq for all waste types produced.
  • Impact per Month chart (if applicable): Each bar in the chart represents a year of total carbon emissions, and the height of the bar indicates the waste impact for that specific month.
  • Benchmark Graphs: The benchmark graphs use bar charts to visually compare your impact per square meter and impact per euro sold against industry and association averages. This information can be used to compare your environmental performance against industry competitors.

4. Using the Page

  • Select Year: Use the menu at the top to select the year for which you want to view waste results.
  • Analyze the Charts: Review the charts to understand the share of waste types, carbon footprint by type, impact per month (if applicable), and benchmark comparisons.
  • Evaluate Variance: Pay attention to the variance percentages to identify areas where your company's performance is significantly different from the industry or association average.
  • Identify Areas for Improvement: Based on the insights from the page, you can identify opportunities to reduce the environmental impact from your waste streams, derive solutions such as minimizing waste production, improving recycling and composting practices, or implementing waste reduction initiatives.
