Commuting

1. Purpose

The "Commuting" form helps you calculate the environmental impact of your employees' commutes to and from work. This information contributes to your overall environmental footprint assessment.

2. Entering Your Commuting Data

  • Scope: Choose whether you want to calculate the impact for the calendar year or a specific month.
  • Year: Select the year for which you want to calculate the commuting impact.
  • Month (if applicable): If you chose "Month" in the "Scope" field, select the specific month.
  • Data (Kilometers): For each mode of transport listed, enter the total kilometers traveled by your employees using that mode. Be as accurate as possible to ensure precise impact calculations. The modes of transport include various options like bicycles, cars (diesel, petrol, CNG, LPG), electric cars, vans, and public transport.

3. How the Calculation Works

The tool uses the entered kilometer data and factors in emission data for each mode of transport to calculate the total CO2 emissions generated by your employees' commutes. The impact is calculated in kilograms of CO2 equivalent (kg CO2-eq).

4. Understanding the Results

  • Impact (kg CO2-eq): This column displays the calculated environmental impact for each mode of transport in kilograms of CO2 equivalent.
  • Share (%): This column shows the percentage contribution of each mode of transport to the total commuting impact. This helps you identify the most significant sources of emissions related to commuting.

5. What Happens Next?

Once you've entered all the necessary data, the tool will automatically calculate the total impact of commuting and display it on the right side of the form. This data will be incorporated into your overall environmental footprint report, accessible through the "Results Dashboard." You can then use this information to identify areas for improvement, such as promoting more sustainable modes of transport or implementing initiatives to reduce commuting distances.
